Read the sad news today that Johnny Duncan, country singer extraordinaire, has passed away of a heart attack at the too early age of 67. A great loss for Texas music. Johnny had been semiretired, living on his Stephenville, TX ranch for some time, but was still active in country music having released his latest album in 2004.
Esposa was quite a Johnny Duncan fan in her pre-Semitough days. If Johnny was playing somewhere, more likely than not Esposa was there. So also a sad day here at the Semitough Love Ranch.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Salvation Army and St. Jude’s Children’s hospital.
Johnny has a great website where you can read his biography, listen to his music, and order CDs if you are so moved. Johnny had a great baritone voice and a smooth easy style. His duets with Dallas’ own Janie Fricke were always excellent leading to a CMA nomination as Best Vocal Duo, as were Johnny’s own certified gold hits like “It Couldn’t Have Been Any Better” and “She Can Put Her Shoes Under My Bed Anytime”.
Farewell Johnny….you will be missed.
